Stock is also known as bouillon in some kitchens. The word "bouillon" comes from the French verb bouillir, meaning ‘to boil’. ASA’s vegetable stock powder is both vegetarian and vegan, contains no monosoduim glutamate, and can be added to boiling water for a quick way to make a basic vegetable stock.
Herb stock is prepared by boiling vegetables and aromatic herbs for many hours. The result is a concentrated fluid, called stock, with a strong umami flavour that is used to add a strong base note to soups, stews or sauces. Often roasted poultry, meat or pork bones can be added to give a meatier flavour.
